Mini Split Won't Cool? Common Midea & TCL Parts That Fail (And How to Replace Them)

— Troubleshooting & Parts Guide

Mini split not cooling, or not cooling like it used to? Before assuming the whole system needs replacing, it's worth narrowing down which component actually failed. Most no-cool and weak-cool complaints on Midea and TCL systems trace back to one of a handful of parts.

01"System Runs but Doesn't Cool"

Usually points to the compressor or a failed outdoor sensor feeding the board bad data. If the outdoor unit is running but the line set isn't cold, start with the compressor and coil sensor.

02"Indoor Fan Won't Turn On"

Points to the indoor cross fan motor or the indoor control board. If you hear a faint hum but no spinning, it's likely the motor itself, not the board.

03"Display Shows an Error Code"

Error codes almost always point to a specific sensor or board failure — check your unit's manual for what the code means before ordering a part, since the same code can mean different things across model families.

04"Outdoor Unit Is Silent"

Could be the outdoor fan motor, the compressor, or the outdoor control/inverter board that drives them. Check for power at the disconnect first, then work through the components in that order.

05Once You Know What Failed

Read the part number directly off the failed component when possible, or use the model number on the unit's rating plate to cross-reference. Browse our genuine Midea and TCL parts here: OEM Parts Collection.
